The Queensland Government has helped strengthen export opportunities and further investment for local projects after a successful trade mission to Japan and South Korea.
Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training, Ros Bates, visited to to countries and met key partners across several industries including agriculture, resources, and renewables.
One of the key announcements to come from the trade mission was a Taste of Queensland event showcasing the state’s world-class produce to 150 buyers and business leaders in Tokyo
Overall, Bates participated in more than 25 meetings and engagements across the five-day mission in Tokyo, Osaka and Seoul.
“Demand for Queensland’s products from these two key trading partners is significant, and we’re making sure our regions reap the benefits,” said Minister Bates.
“This trade mission was about making sure key investment partners regard Queensland as a place that’s open for business.
“Japanese and Korean investment in this state creates jobs for Queenslanders and guarantees the long-term success of the Queensland economy. I am confident there will be more investment outcomes following these meetings.”
Japan is Queensland’s second-largest export destination with $16.9 billion in 12 months to September 2024, primarily driven by coal, LNG, and beef.
Korea is Queensland’s fourth-largest export destination with $14.6 billion in 12 months to September 2024, also led by coal, beef and LNG exports.
