Senate to reveal report on milk price wars

The Senate findings from the supermarket milk wars will be handed down today, revealing how it will impact dairy farmers.

When Coles slashed its home brand milk price to $1 a litre earlier this year, dairy farmers voiced their outrage, saying it would drive them out of the business because they would no longer be able to make a profit.

Woolworths also followed suit, slashing its milk price.

Dairy farmers were left disappointed by Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) findings that cleared the supermarket giants of any wrongdoing in the case.

The Senate inquiry has held months of hearings, in an effort to establish if the $1 retail price has damaged the dairy industry and whether tougher laws are required to prevent such situations.
