Premium Western Australian food products are being showcased in Vietnam in a bespoke trade promotion hosted by the State Government.
The two-month promotional campaign ‘Western Australia Gourmet Getaway’ is underway following a successful launch in Ho Chi Minh City, attended by investors, trade stakeholders and media.
Ten WA brands feature in the unique campaign which aims to promote WA as a reliable source of premium food and secure new export opportunities.
The initiative is partnering with a leading Vietnamese buyer to showcase WA products across retail stores in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City through a series of two-week activations.
The activations will involve sampling and marketing activities, supported by media, social media and branding initiatives.
Gourmet WA products starring in the campaign span meat, seafood, honey, truffles, condiments and dairy products.
The promotion builds on a Ministerial trade mission to Vietnam in 2023 to grow opportunities for WA primary produce and value-add goods, as well as connections made at evokeAG held in Perth earlier this year.
“The ‘Western Australia Gourmet Getaway’ in Vietnam is a wonderful opportunity for WA agrifood and beverage businesses to get their products in front of key importers, distributors and consumers and lay the foundations for new export connections,” said Agriculture and Food Minister Jackie Jarvis.
“It is terrific to see opportunities emerging from last year’s trade mission to Vietnam, which highlighted the great potential to build customer relationships and expand the range of WA products on offer.
“WA is an export state and our Government is working hard to promote our premium products on the international stage at global events, as well as tailored trade initiatives.”
WA brands featured in the campaign include:
- Linley Valley Pork
- Honey in the Garden
- KB Seafood Company
- Two Oceans Abalone
- Coastal Abalone
- Lake Preston Beef
- Dirty Clean Food
- Stonebarn Truffle
- Ogilvie & Co
- Brownes Dairy
In 2023-24, Vietnam was WA’s sixth largest agrifood and beverage export destination, valued at $618.8 million, led by wheat, malt, barley, lobster, live beef cattle and lupins.
“There are exciting times ahead for Western Australian seafood exports to Vietnam, with demand for lobsters and abalone from our pristine waters continuing to increase in this market,” said Fisheries Minister Don Punch.
“This initiative supports the Cook Government’s efforts to drive local, national and export market opportunities for WA’s premium and value-added food and beverage products.”
