Sullair offers peace of mind with oil-free for some of Australia’s favourite snacks

Many businesses define their practice around industry standards laid out before them. Leading Australian food manufacturers are choosing peace of mind as the way forward and it’s paying off.

While Australia currently lacks overarching standards around the use of oil-injected compressors within the food and beverage industry, food contamination of any kind remains not just a health and safety issue for consumers; the negative impact on a company’s reputation and its brand is always significant – not to mention the cost.

The details embedded within existing standards differ from seafood to dairy, poultry to seeds and so on and Sullair aims to always take on an advisory role on this subject.

Supporting the customer with insights into best practice, whilst assisting them to make choices around the best equipment for their needs is paramount. New food and beverage clients are advised to choose oil-free, while existing customers are supported to upgrade if and when they feel the need arise.

Some food and beverage manufacturers – such as Cobs Popcorn and Green’s Biscuits are already taking the initiative to switch to oil-free, even though regulations don’t yet demand it of them.

Cobs and Green’s belong to one of Australia’s largest food manufacturing companies and had previously been using fully compliant oil-injected compressors with filtration measures to manage contamination risks.

Dev Mali is a representative for the company and worked closely with Sullair on transitioning their equipment to oil-free.

“Out there in the industry, there are solution providers that claim oil-injected plus an array of filters can do as good a job as oil-free. Rather than going into that debate, for us, it was more about being a world class food manufacturer and mitigating the risk at the source and one way to do that was to go with an oil-free solution.”

As is the case with many of their clients, Sullair presented all the options to help them make exactly the right decision for their business – both economically and from a risk management perspective. This is where Sullair becomes more than just a supplier.

Taking a specialist advisory role is essential to finding new and innovative solutions for each unique scenario.
