iBase Technology’s BYTEM-123-PC, EN50155-certified vehicle-based HMI

The BYTEM-123-PC is based on the quad-core Intel Atom processor E3845 and EN50155 certified for railway applications. It provides high computing performance and low power consumption, silently operating at temperatures from -40°C to 75°C. Meeting EN50155 standards, the units support input voltages including 24V (default) as well as 72V and 110V (options).

The BYTEM-123-PC front panel provides IP65 protection to make it dust proof and providing the ability to wash down the screen, and also IP54 rating for the whole unit. To enhance functionality and performance of the BYTEM-123-PC, iBASE has included two-finger multi-touch screen to enable users with greater control of the user interface.

The BYTEM-123-PC supports a range of I/O and expansion capabilities, this includes  support  for M12 connectors for power input and 10/100M Ethernet communication, two USB 3.0, one USB 2.0, Gigabit Ethernet controllers for system and software installation or maintenance. The systems also support VESA mounting and an optional rack mounting kit for fitting into different kinds of installations.

Washdown-enabled HMI with LED backlight

IDEC Corporation has announced the 5.7” enhanced HMI, HG2G-5T series, which is a significant upgrade from their previous basic model. 

The enhanced HG2G-5T Series colour version TFT LCD HMI has a resolution of 65,536 colors and a brightness of 500 cd/m2. 

The monochrome TFT LCD model has a resolution of 16 shades and a brightness of 1100 cd/m2. This level of resolution produces a much-improved viewing experience, and the increased brightness allows screens to be easily seen even in direct sunlight. Viewing can be configured for either portrait or landscape.

End users and OEMs often need an HMI that can communicate with a variety of different PLCs and controllers, and the enhanced HMI HG2G-5T series delivers this functionality by supporting up to three different communication protocols simultaneously. 

The serial port can support both RS-232 and RS-422/485 simultaneously, and the Ethernet port can support up to four hosts and three user communication protocols at the same time. The serial port and the Ethernet port combined can thus support up to nine communication protocols simultaneously, two serial and seven Ethernet. 

The HMI has a wide range of operating temperatures from -20 to 60 degrees C, and it is rated IP66/IP66F and NEMA 4X to allow for installation outdoors, or indoors in washdown areas. The unit is suitable for installation in Class 1, Division 2 hazardous location.  

The HMI has a built-in web server, which allows full remote monitoring and control via any web browser running on a PC, smartphone or tablet. 

Remote users can monitor current values or processes—and also control operation, print information, switch screens, or even change program values—just as if they were in front of the touchscreen. 

Users can also remotely perform troubleshooting, run tests and perform maintenance. No additional software tools or modules are needed to use the Remote Monitor & Control function. 

The new HMI is programmed using IDEC’s WindO/I NV4 software. This new programming software provides advanced programming features similar to those found in IDEC’s High Performance HMI including WebServer functionality, and a USB Auto Run function for easy data transfer. 

 

Versatile HMI for food manufacturers

Rockwell Automation has released its new Allen-Bradley PanelView Plus 7 Performance graphic terminal to simplify and streamline visualisation in large, complex applications including food manufacturing. 

The PanelView Plus 7 Performance terminal expands on the recently released PanelView Plus 7 Standard model with a larger screen option, more processing power, expanded connectivity and greater software support.

The Performance model has six screen-size options, including a new 19-inch option – the largest to date from Rockwell Automation. The 19-inch screen offers machine builders and end users more display area on which they can design, control and monitor large applications. The Performance model also includes new keypad options to complement the terminal’s standard touch screen.

A more powerful CPU supports larger displays and larger applications. While the Standard model supports applications with up to 25 screens and 200 alarms, the Performance model supports applications much larger in size and complexity.
 
With the addition of an embedded Ethernet switch and two Ethernet ports, the PanelView Plus 7 Performance terminal can support a device level ring (DLR) topology for single-fault resiliency. 

The terminal also has expanded mobile connectivity. Remote desktop services enable a plant manager, maintenance technician or support provider to securely access the HMI from a remote location to troubleshoot a problem, walk through setup procedures, review alarming and more. In addition, plant operators can monitor HMI data within the plant using a tablet, smartphone or other mobile device.

With video playback support, machine builders and end users can now incorporate helpful videos into the terminal to support operator training and troubleshooting. Microsoft Office viewers and Internet Explorer support give operators instantaneous access to network-based Office files and HTML pages, such as standard operating procedures, directly from the terminal.

The PanelView Plus 7 Performance terminal also retains the benefits introduced with the PanelView Plus 7 Standard terminal. This includes the ability to save projects and critical machine information on an SD card. For example, machine builders can save a single machine’s configuration on an SD card and re-use it for multiple similar machines, while operators can archive machine data for faster terminal replacements and easier troubleshooting.
