US keen on Aussie wines

The United States has moved ahead of the United Kingdom as Australia’s biggest wine export market by value.

The Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation’s latest report says export volumes increased to the US and fell to the UK during May this year.

The Corporation also believes the US will grow to become an even bigger market in the coming months.

However, in the latest market assessment, China, Hong Kong and Japan recorded the largest growth for Australian wine exports.

The Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation says winemakers need to actively promote their products.

Corporation executive Paul Henry says this should be less about changing products to suit Asian consumers and more about visiting those Asian countries to support their market share.
