Vietnam lowers tariffs on dairy imports

The Vietnamese Ministry of Finance has lowered import tariffs on a variety of dairy products.

Tariffs on dairy products with non-natural milk ingredients will be lowered to five per cent, down from the current seven to ten per cent.

However, tariffs on dehydrated and condensed milk remain unchanged at three percent and 5 percent respectively.

The new tax rates will come into effect on 28 September 2009.

Year on year, milk and dairy products rank high on the list of Vietnamese imports especially from countries such as New Zealand.
