Who’s on show at foodpro 2014?

We profile eight suppliers to the food and beverage manufacturing industry who will be showing off their latest and greatest products at foodpro later this month.

foodpro, Australasia’s largest and longest running food manufacturing trade show will be held in Melbourne for the first time later this month, and some of the industry’s leading manufacturers will be on show.

Held once every three years, foodpro 2014 will span over 20,000 square metres at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre showcasing every aspect of the Australasian food processing industry.

About 10,000 people are expected to see more than 300 suppliers of the food and beverage sectors at the most prestigious high-profile trade event for the industry within the Asia Pacific region.

Suppliers include:

1. Summit Machinery
Summit Machinery is using foodpro 2014 to launch the latest slicer and shedder by FAM Cutting Machinery.
FAM has developed the Centris 315, the most compact industrial centrifugal slicer and shredder in the market. The unique cutting method and high-quality blades of the Centris 315 ensure that a wide range of products can be sliced or shredded with precision, resulting in little or no yield loss.

The machine has the smallest footprint of any industrial centrifugal shredder in the market making it perfect for small to mid-sized companies as it requires limited floor space.

Summit Machinery will be at booth P42.

2. CST Waterwaster Solutions
CST Waterwaster Solutions will showcase the latest in wastewater and green energy technologies at foodpro this year.

Mike Bambridge, managing director of CST Wastewater Solutions will appear alongside Craig Morgan, national energy consultant, consulting visitors on specific problems and suggesting innovative solutions. Both have decades of experience in assisting organisations to manage energy, greenhouse gas emissions, and the impacts of climate change.

The Rotary Drum Screen will be one of the wastewater technologies on show, which facilitates pretreatment, grit removal and anaerobic wastewater treatment.

“The latest Rotary Drum Screen has a low investment cost, as well as low operational and maintenance costs. Our wide range of in-house experience means we offer custom-designed machines if needed,” Bambridge said.

CST Waterwaster Solutions will be on booth R16

3. APC Technology
Food and beverage computer solutions and equipment designer, APC Technology has launched a new stainless steel cabinet range, which will be on display at foodpro 2014.

The ruggedised stainless steel cabinet has been designed to meet the high standards and durability demanded in a food and beverage environment, including corrosive resistance to chemical cleaning agents.

The cabinet includes a fully sealed unit that water cannot penetrate, while allowing for water to be sprayed under the pedestal to dislodge any food products. The design is streamline, eliminating gaps and collection points with a specific focus on the base.

APC Technology will be at booth G52

4. Spray Nozzle Engineering

Spray Nozzle Engineering and its sister company Reel-Tech will be showcasing spraying and wash-down solutions at foodpro.

Reel-Tech will be launching Safe-R-Reel, the only spring rewind speed control device available for stainless reels in the food and beverage industry. The Safe-R-Reel provides a safer solution for fast retracting reels.

The Drip Pro Hi-Flo GEN-3 check valve will also be on display at foodpro. The product has been designed to control and reduce drips that contribute to scorched particles, in the most demanding environments.

Spray Nozzle Engineering will be at booth S10.

5. Matthews Australasia
Matthews Australasia will be presenting a range of coding, labelling, vision and product traceability solutions this year.

Its checkweighing range includes the weighprice labeller, a reliable, compact, fully automatic machine, which precisely weighs and labels goods and can be integrated into existing production lines.

In conjunction with iQVision Matthews will also demonstrate its vision systems and show how a business of any size can incorporate this technology for inspection, guidance, identification, measurement, tracking and counting across a range of industries.

On display will also be Matthews' Linx thermal transfer overprinters (TTO) which code on to flexible packaging films and self-adhesive labels, and are typically used for snack foods, confectionery and fresh produce to print date and batch codes, logos, product descriptions, ingredients lists, nutritional panels and barcodes.

Matthews Australasia will be on stand H18.

6. Atlas Copco
Atlas Copco will have a number of its products on display:

The new GAVSD+ (variable speed drive) oil-injected screw compressor which offers improved performance, energy efficiency, and the smallest footprint in the market (up to 55 percent smaller).

The NGM membrane nitrogen generators, which provide a cost-effective, reliable and secure supply of nitrogen. The generator's working principle is based on membrane air separation, which allows nitrogen to pass and other gases to permeate.

The ZS oil-free screw element blower provides a continuous and reliable supply of 100 percent oil-free air. The ZS range cuts energy costs by an average of 30 percent when compared to lobe technology.

The Energy Recovery System allows manufacturers to recover rejected heat and reuse it in their production cycle, allowing overall efficiency improvements of any compressed air system and a reduction in the plant's total energy consumption.

Atlas Copco will be on stand H48.

7. Thompson Meat Machinery
Meat processing equipment manufacturer, Thompson Meat Machinery will present its Thompson 400 Bandsaw at foodpro 2014.

The Thompson 400 Bandsaw incorporates four key safety features, making it the most efficient and the safest tool in the butcher and processor's armoury.

The base bandsaw is the Thompson 400 Supercut High Speed Bandsaw featuring a 3kW high speed motor, precision machined wheel and blade scrapers and tilt table. The cutting action of the Thompson 400 provides 1960m/min, the ability to cut through frozen products and a blade that produces a clean, straight cut that reduces bone dust.

The Thompson Bandsaw Blade Guard is constructed from stainless steel that encloses the bandsaw blade at all times, operational only when actively engaged by the operator via a foot pedal. Pneumatically controlled, the default position of the guard is always down and can only be raised when the operator is in the correct position.

Thompson Meat Machinery will be on stand O30.

8. SEW-EURODRIVE
At Foodpro 2014, SEW-EURODRIVE will showcase its product/service offering – comprising gearmotors, drive electronics as well as service, support and training – to the food and beverage industry. The company will exhibit elements from its expansive electronic, electro-mechanical and mechanical solution set, which make up the complete end-to-end drive range.

A particular point of interest on the SEW-EURODRIVE stand will be its Movigear mechatronic high efficiency drive unit. Movigear is popular amongst food and beverage manufacturers due to its IE4 Super Premium Efficiency rating and high degree of ingress protection (IP66), protecting against wash-down processes. Movigear also features an optional anti-stick Teflon outer coating to protect against chemical/caustic cleaning processes.

Also on show will be SEW’s DAS Series ASEPTICplus gearmotors, designed for hygienic production areas. The ASEPTICplus drive package contributes to the reduction of bacteria: reducing the accumulation of debris and air movements.

SEW-EURODRIVE will be on stand number U9.
